It has become a permanent tradition at WoTS: the trade fair gadget. Since 2014 (start of WoTS), a group of participants of the World of Electronics have given away a unique, technically advanced gadget to visitors every edition. Many gadgets have now become real collectors items and expectations are also high for the 2022 edition. We are already lifting the veil a little.
The unveiling of the latest trade fair gadget is always an exciting moment. Various companies present their gadget idea during a 'pitch' where exhibitors can vote for their favorite. In 2020, the 'parrot' from the Leuven company Dekimo came out on top: an interactive parrot with a built-in voice recorder that records short messages and plays them back in a distorted way. Unfortunately, corona threw a spanner in the works and the parrot had to sit on the shelf, but now the wait is finally over. The WoTS parrot is back from being away and you can admire it with your own eyes during WoTS 2022.
Cooperation
As in previous editions, the gadget is a collaboration between several companies participating in WoTS. For the 'parrot', more than twenty exhibitors joined forces. Parrot creator Dekimo developed the functional layout. Saar Drimer from Eurocircuits designed the artistic front of the printed circuit board. In addition, Eurocircuits produced the prototypes and series of PCBs. The assembly of the PCBs was the responsibility of A1 Electronics. In addition to these exhibitors, more companies were involved in the parrot project by sponsoring components, performing various tests or as financial sponsors. This shows once again that the cooperation between the Industrial Electronics members is going well.
Ready for production
The 'parrot' is now ready for production. The WoTS organization is having a total of 1,500 copies of the interactive parrot made. If you want one, we advise you to indicate this when you register, because the interest in the gadget is great.
