“The importance of power quality for energy efficiency and low maintenance costs“
Due to the increased use of electronics within the industry, this topic is more topical than ever. The use of frequency controllers increases productivity, but also greatly improves the quality of the end product. In addition, numerous energy-efficient equipment will be used and we will generate energy ourselves, for example through solar panels. But, all these electronics pollute the power grid and negatively affect power quality. At the same time, this equipment is increasingly sensitive to the pollution they themselves cause. This has major consequences for the stability of the electrical energy supply and the energy efficiency of machines and equipment.
Poor power quality leads to:
- additional heating of cables, pipes and power transformers
- more breakdowns, higher maintenance costs and a less stable production process
- an additional energy consumption of approximately 3%
During this lecture we will explain why this is caused, how you can measure and recognize it and we will provide tips on how to improve power quality.
