Customization of DC motors by Eisses Drive Technology is the key to successful custom-made applications
Eisses Aandrijftechniek has been an expert in the field of 12 and 24 Volt DC motors since its founding in 1999. The Schiedam company supplies the electric motors to machine builders who use the standardized devices for a wide number of applications.
The warehouse of Eisses Drive Technology Schiedam is full of DC motors of all shapes and sizes. The similarity is that almost all of these electric motors were originally developed for the automotive sector. Yet the areas of application are many times larger, something that Eisses cleverly responds to by supplying these engines to machine builders in particular. Eisses Drive Technology is the exclusive distributor of Nidec engines in the Benelux and also develops high-quality engines with other European suppliers under its own label name EAT.
Gerwalt Elzerman, owner of the company, says: “Within the automotive industry, the volumes and quality requirements are high. This gives you high quality for a favorable price. Of course, there are also providers who specifically supply engines for industries outside the automotive sector. However, such engines may be overqualified for their purpose. This results in an unnecessarily heavy and expensive engine being installed in an application where an automotive engine, which is less heavy and expensive but of high and very reliable quality, is also sufficient. Electric motors from the automotive industry are therefore extremely interesting for such situations.”
Moreover, in his passion for technology, Eisses actively thinks along with the customer, from large to small. For example, about the question of how a particular engine can be used in an optimal manner. Eisses can also make adjustments itself if necessary, says Gerwalt Elzerman, founder of the company: “We can provide motors with an extra coating for better protection against moisture, which improves the IP protection class. We also carry out cable and plug assembly or add hall sensors. Call it ease of assembly.”
“But we also have ways to accommodate the customer's logistics to meet his wishes. For example, consider specific packaging requirements or deliveries in the right quantities at the time that best suits the customer's assembly process.”
Innovation in electric motors
Just like in other technical sectors, time does not stand still in the world of electric motors; There are certainly innovations, says Elzerman: “Engines are becoming smaller and more compact every year. A good example of this is our new CM3G series motors with an armature housing of less than 35mm in diameter. Despite these dimensions, a nominal torque of 4Nm and a maximum torque greater than 10Nm are no problem at all.”
He continues: “The transmission also has a self-locking effect of 10Nm with speeds between 120-240 revolutions per minute. The CM3G can be used in a wide range of application areas. Consider height adjustments, tilt movements, locking/unlocking, rotation and angle adjustments. Due to its very flat construction, the engine requires little space in the design. The motor is easy to control using the two-channel hall encoder. This is a recent development that we recently added to our range.”
WoTS 2022
As a FEDA member, Eisses Aandrijftechniek can be found at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30 September to participate in the World of Technology & Science 2022. To be precise, the exhibition stand can be found in the FEDA Lounge at the World of Motion & Drives (hall 11) with stand number 11B020.
By participating in the WoTS 2022, Eisses wants to directly address the intended target group, says Natasja Elzerman-Mollink: “We would like to get in touch with engineers, so that they have our engines in mind for driving the movement when it comes to new (product) developments. that they have in mind. We believe that the FEDA network can make a positive contribution to this. In the past we have participated independently in the WoTS with our own stand, but this year we are doing so for the first time in collaboration with FEDA at the FEDA Lounge.”
So if you are interested in high-quality and affordable electric motors for your application, Eisses can help you immediately.
