The Megger MPAC128 is a handy camera that is able to visualize leaks in compressed air, gas and vacuum systems on a large display. The device can also be used to visualize partial discharges in power distribution systems and high-voltage equipment.
The MPAC128 is equipped with an array of 128 microphones. This detects the specific sound of a leak or partial discharge at a distance of up to 120 meters and determines its exact direction by measuring the time delay of this sound between the different microphones. Next to the array, a camera is focused on the area being inspected. The location of the leak or partial discharge is then displayed in color over the visual image in the appropriate place. The focus function can eliminate disturbing sounds and noise.
With a sturdy aluminum housing and protection class IP54, this instrument can be used in almost all circumstances. To operate the instrument, only 2 parameters need to be set, namely the frequency range and the dynamic range. The MPAC128 is capable of storing both still images and video. The results can be analyzed, archived and reported using the supplied software. An ATEX certified version of the MPAC128 is also available, which is suitable for taking measurements in Zone 2.
