PLOT Conference on Flying with Confidence

On Tuesday 8 October 2024, the Platform Omgevingstechnologie (PLOT) will organise a conference on reliability and safety in aviation. This year, the biennial conference will take place in the Aviodrome aviation museum, an inspiring location where the history and innovative future of aviation come together.  

Conference visitors will be given a tour of Aviodrome, where three centuries of aviation history will pass by at lightning speed. The highlight of the tour will be a visit to the iconic aircraft in the outdoor area, including the Boeing 747 and the Lockheed Constellation. There will also be time to network and meet leading companies that will present their latest innovations during the exhibitor pitches.

Safe paragliding

Five specialists will provide a substantive lecture on the role of environmental technology within aviation. Maarten Vogelaar van Weiss Technik dives into the world of paragliding. He explains how environmental factors, such as changing weather conditions, affect the safety of athletes. Thanks to advanced technologies, it is possible to anticipate environmental factors and thus make paragliding safer. It promises to be an exciting presentation, because Maarten himself does paragliding in his spare time and he speaks from experience.

Hydrogen in aviation

The students of the AeroDelft project of the TU Delft are working on an aircraft that is powered by hydrogen. Stan Etman will talk on behalf of the team about the technology behind this sustainable aircraft. The focus of his presentation is on the lessons the team learned in the field of safety.

Pioneering

Aviodrome concludes the lecture program with a presentation about the history of aviation, followed by the aforementioned guided tour. Visitors will gain insight into the evolutionary steps within the aviation sector, from the early pioneering flights to the modern era. This historical context underlines the importance of reliability in every phase of aviation development and the crucial role that the environment plays in this.
