Plug-and-play IoT solutions for utilities
The technology companies Delmation, Thingsdata and Withthegrid are joining forces to offer integrated IoT solutions for organizations in the utility sector. The demand for internet of things solutions is increasing sharply. The technical knowledge and availability of technical personnel is often a limiting factor in starting projects or rolling them out on a large scale.
By the hardware from Delmation, connectivity of Thingsdata and the Withthegrid portal Combining them together creates a plug-and-play solution that allows organizations in the utility sector to make their installations and systems smart even faster.
Withthegrid is a Dutch technology company founded in 2017, started managing and maintaining energy infrastructure. At that time it became clear that managing infrastructure was becoming increasingly complex, such as:
- More and more energy infrastructure is in need of replacement and renewal;
- Increasing shortage of technical personnel to carry out the work;
- The infrastructure must be made suitable for a lot of sustainable energy.
The mission is to digitize vital infrastructures for a sustainable future.
Smart installation within one day
Many customers want real-time insight into their existing energy installations and can control them remotely. A 4G LTE gateway with integrated IoT connectivity makes it possible to 'make installations smart'. The challenge is to turn the data from the gateway into valuable information by translating the data into the correct measurement messages and control signals.
For customer cases, a DC solution with Modbus output has been selected. On this is a Teltonika TRB255 gateway connected including secure multi-network M2M SIM card Tele2 IoT. The simple link between hardware and software makes it possible to make an installation smart in one day. In the portal, the Modbus signal is read and converted into a measurement that becomes visible in the graphs and other analyses.
Real-time insight into the status of the installation and data chain
Using the Withthegrid portal, utility companies always have real-time insight into the status of the linked installations. Configurations are easy to adjust and the data is presented clearly. By handling data in a smart way, it is possible to optimize processes. In this way, the uptime of devices is efficiently increased.
It is also possible to digitize an entire process to create a digital twin in this way.
We use the Thingsdata portal to manage connectivity. With the Thingsdata portal it is easy to check connectivity. If there are any problems with the connectivity, the user will immediately receive a notification. In many cases the fault can also be resolved directly online.
