Apex Dynamics has expanded its AB, ABR, AF and AFR series with a so-called spline” or “evolve"output shaft which complies with the international DIN5480 standard. This makes it possible to transmit very high torques with high dynamics with a small hub.

Various extension options

This expansion means that Apex Dynamics customers can now choose from 4 mounting options for these series; clamping, crimping, keying and evolve.

Obviously, each option has its own advantages and disadvantages:

  • Clamps (Force-locked connection)
The choice of a clamp coupling between shaft and hub requires a much larger hub diameter.
  • Crimping (Force-locked connection)
It is easy, thanks to the j6 fit, to shrink a hub onto the axle, but it cannot be dismantled later.
  • Spigot (Formally closed connection)
This connection is most commonly used but has three major disadvantages: there is always play (despite the h9 fit), the key often cannot transfer the maximum torque of the gearbox and the key can become indented due to sensitivity to changing torques.
  • Involute (Formally closed connection)
The hub remains small but can transmit very high torques with high dynamics, an ideal solution when mounting e.g. a pinion for dynamic applications.
