The world is becoming increasingly sustainable. The new 2023 measures for office buildings contribute to this. Every building must then have at least energy label C. It is not surprising that more and more companies are switching to building automation: smart systems that automatically respond to the needs of users and thus improve processes and energy consumption. Marien van Veelen, director of Vedotec, knows all about this.
In line for sustainable products
“Buildings must comply with energy label C from 1 January 2023,” Van Veelen begins. This means that office buildings may only have an energy consumption of a maximum of 225 kilowatt hours per square metre per year. If your building does not meet these requirements, you may no longer use it as an office. A lot of companies will therefore have to work hard to meet this demand before the end of the year. Van Veelen also notices this: “As a result of this development, we at Vedotec are seeing a significant increase in the demand for sustainable products. Companies are going to renovate and come to us for their sustainability.”
Vedotec is one of the largest Dutch suppliers of building automation. For example, the company supplies products that help with automatic humidity or temperature control and lighting controls in a building. An interesting offer for companies with plans for sustainability in 2023.
Astonishing intelligence
Building automation is a logical step in sustainability. Buildings regulate their own heating, ventilation and cooling. They automatically switch lights on or off and open and close doors. This makes a huge difference to the energy bill.
In addition, Van Veelen sees that building automation products are also becoming increasingly intelligent. “Take a CO2 sensor as an example. These sensors can increasingly act and communicate independently. They measure how much CO2 is present in a room and when this is too high, for example, the sensor indicates this. This way you know exactly how healthy the air quality is in a room.” With this data, companies can create a smarter but also a healthier working environment.

Ready for the future
The growing need for building automation products requires good security. “You want your system to keep running and not for hackers to take over. Everything must therefore be well secured,” says Van Veelen.
That is why Vedotec has developed the Tosibox, a user-friendly solution for remote access. “With this system, you have a fully secured and reliable remote connection between all your devices. We see that companies are increasingly asking for it. This way, you always have insight into who can view the data of your building and you are always protected against cyber attacks,” says Van Veelen.
