600W Class I and Class II 3”x 5” medical and industrial power supplies with efficiencies up to 96%

TDK Corporation (TSE 6762) introduces the 600W TDK-Lambda CUS600M Series AC-DC Power Supplies. With efficiencies up to 96%, little internal heat is produced, enabling reliable operation of the power supply, which has an industry-standard 3” x 5” footprint. The supplies meet medical and ITE (Information Technology Equipment) standards for Class I and II (no ground wire required) operation. The supplies are intended for applications including medical, home healthcare, dental, test and measurement, broadcast, professional audio, and industrial equipment.

There is a choice of seven output voltages: 12 V, 19 V, 24 V, 28 V, 32 V, 36 V and 48 V. All models have an input voltage range of 85 to 264 VAC and consume less than 0.5 W at no load. They are equipped as standard with 5 V/2 A standby voltage, remote on/off, remote sense and a 'power good' signal. A cover with an integrated fan is optionally available. The open frame model measures 76.2 x 127 x 37 mm (W x L x H); with the cover and fan this is 85 x 157 x 42.5 mm.

When convection cooled, the CUS600M can deliver 400 W (600 W peak power) at ambient temperatures between -20 °C and +40 °C; above this, linear derating is specified to 200 W at 70 °C. With forced air cooling, 600 W can be delivered at temperatures up to 55 °C, with derating to 420 W at 70 °C.

The CUS600M has an input to output isolation voltage of 4,000 VAC (2 x MoPP), input to ground is 2,000 VAC (1 x MoPP) and output to ground is 1,500 VAC (1 x MoPP). This makes the power supplies suitable for B and BF classified medical equipment. The leakage current is <200 µA and the touch current is <100 µA. The maximum altitude for operation, transport and storage is 5,000 meters.

The power supplies are safety certified to IEC/EN/ES 60601-1 and IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 and are CE marked for the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives. The power supplies also comply with the EN 55011-B and EN 55032-B conducted and radiated emissions (Class I and II) and meet the EN 61000-3-2 harmonics, IEC60601-1-2 Edition 4 and IEC 61000-4 immunity standards.
