A taste of industry 4.0: Routeco Netherlands and Wiegers Process Innovations are developing a smart machine demo center

Best, June 23 – Routeco Netherlands and Wiegers Process Innovations have joined forces and are developing a Smart Machine Demo Center in-house, which will be unveiled this fall. 

For the Smart Machine Demo Center, the partners are developing a 'Smart Accurate Depositing Machine' that can deposit fillings such as caramel, jam, cream, peanut butter or a yoghurt layer on cookies with the utmost precision.

Due to the techniques used, such as the remote access solutions of IXON and augmented reality with Emulate 3D from Rockwell Automation in combination with the Microsoft Hololens, this machine is future-proof and fits completely into the IIoT atmospheres of this time. You can literally taste these atmospheres in the Smart Machine Demo Center at Routeco in Best, where you can book a complete tour along all the possibilities and functionalities of the machine and Industry 4.0.

Luc op den Buijsch (Country Director Routeco NL), adds: “We want to use this IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) practical example to offer an accessible step-by-step plan to Industry 4.0. The latter has become a catch-all term, but where and how do you start? How does Industry 4.0 fit in with your company? What solutions are there? You can find the answers to these questions in our smart machine demo center. As Routeco, we also show that we can fully support our customers in their further digital transition, from planning to the engineering and construction phase.”

A unique showcase for both parties that emphasises the added value of Routeco as well as the innovative expertise (what's in a name) of Wiegers Process Innovations. Paul Wiegers (technical director WPI) states: “We now build machines for the Baking, Confectionary and Dairy industry. But the market is shifting and demands other fillings such as fibers, vitamins, vegan or meat. For us this is a very nice way to provide insight that much more is possible within process automation.”
