More than 10 years after the introduction of the DEx regenerative energy storage modules, Koch presents the successors in the form of the PxT modules. Both a shortage and a surplus of DC energy in electric drives are actively managed, independently of the grid.
The internal power electronics can handle larger currents, the storage media has an increased storage capacity and the voltage range is wider, allowing even more frequency and servo controllers to use active DC intermediate circuit energy management in the event of excess or extra required electrical energy.

The function of the PxT modules includes:

  • reuse of braking energy: increasing energy efficiency by up to 40%
  • energy boost: faster acceleration and braking, this shortens cycle times and increases output by up to 50%
  • UPS function: compensating for voltage dips or safe and defined standstill in the event of a power failure
  • UPS function: can work independently of the mains connection, for example an interrupted power supply rail of an AGV
  • peak shaving: removing peak loads on the grid, longer lifespan of controllers, smaller connection values, lower standing charges

In addition to improved electrical properties, the PxT modules also offer more flexibility, on-board intelligence, status readout and communication interfaces that allow smarter applications to be realized without additional control logic. Koch's modules remain plug-and-play as before and can be connected to servo controllers and frequency regulators with only 2 or 3 wires.
