A Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) is a switched power supply that produces a desired voltage by rapidly switching between full power 'on' and full power 'off'. The average between these two voltages produces the power required for a device. The switching on an SMPS is done at such a high frequency that the power to the device is not completely lost. Alex Snijder, Field Application Engineer at Würth Elektronik, gives in his presentation insight into the EMC behavior of an SMPS. This is possible by using LTspice simulation software.
Visitors to the EMC-ESD event will learn what differential and common mode interference is, how to gain insight into it using simulation and of course what you can do about it! At the end of this session, visitors will be able to analyze parts of a circuit for EMC themselves. without that you have a prototype on the table. This allows you to take measures early on so that the qualification process runs smoothly!
