Panasonic has introduced the EM PhotoMOS as a component for a Battery Management System. Its function is to switch a shunt resistor to monitor the insulation between high-voltage and low-voltage.
By omitting pin 5 in the housing, a greater air/crawl distance distance has been achieved between the load pins, making a load voltage of 1500V possible.
The PhotoMOS is suitable for AC and DC loads where it is insensitive to DC polarity.
Typical applications for this PhotoMOS are insulation detection, voltage monitoring and signal control.
