Industry member Siemens launches antibody test in the fight against COVID-19

Siemens Nederland NV, FHI member in the laboratory technology industry, launched a blood test last week to detect COVID-19 antibodies in the blood. This test can show within 14 minutes whether someone has been infected.

Siemens expects this serological test to be available for laboratories in the Netherlands at the end of June. They expect to deliver more than 25 million of these tests per month. The tests already have a proven sensitivity of more than 99 percent.

This test can potentially play a major role in containing the corona crisis. The test also shows whether someone has been infected in the past, which is an important fact for the one-and-a-half-meter economy.
