ABS-LCF from ABS Technics is a microwave absorbing material, lightweight, flat, flexible, with an open-cell structure. It consists of single-layer polyurethane foam core covered with a dielectric graphite solution with fire retardant properties.
It is widely used in many RF applications over a wide frequency range. The RF performance of the material is related to its thickness and target frequency. The typical operating frequency is above 3 GHz, with the thickest material used for the lower frequency range.

Applications:

  • Reduction of surface waves at antennas
  • Reduction of side lobes in antennae
  • Covering of radar, often provided with a protective coating
  • Inside RF cabinets to damp standing waves
  • Reducing interference between RF systems

The basic version consists of plates of 610 x 610mm in thicknesses of 10, 15 and 25mm. The maximum operating temperature is +90°C.
Customer-specific dimensions and shapes are available, as well as adjustments for strongly curved surfaces. Some applications require a dust-free material or ; ABS-LCF can also be provided with a protective coating.
If reflectivity is required, the material can be supplied with an integrated metal backing. It can also be supplied with a galvanized steel plate as a carrier or with a conductive foil or self-adhesive tape on the back.
