Locking and starting up to security level PL e is possible with the new RFID key system CKS2 from EUCHNER.
Safe blocking, also called lockout, prevents starting a machine or process as long as a key is missing. Safe start, also called authorization, ensures a specific start of an operating mode or a machine part that is only possible if a key is present.
For both locking and starting, one or more CKS2 key systems can be used. When using multiple key systems, they can be connected in series, the security level remains Cat. 4 / PL e. If visual distinction is desired, both the fronts and the keys are available in different colours.
The three connections of the CKS2 consist of OSSD safety signals and a communication channel. For individual connection there is a unit with only outputs, for serial connection there is a unit with both inputs and outputs. The communication channel can optionally be connected to a gateway to IO-Link: This creates additional Industry 4.0 functionality.
By using RFID transponder technology, there is no wear of the system. The mechanical tolerances are large and there are no electrical contacts. The key stays in place and is held with a clip. Even if something heavy is hanging on it, the key stays in place. Due to the robust design and the high protection class (IP 67), the CKS2 key system is extremely suitable for industrial applications, even in wet and dirty places.
The CKS2 keys are very highly coded and therefore protected against manipulation. All keys have a unique code but there are also sets available with identical codes. After learning a set the function of the unit changes automatically.
