Recently, CO2 sensors have become very 'hot' again. According to Professor of Ventilation Technology Wim Zeiler, a CO2 meter should be installed in every classroom. If there is a traffic light (LEDs) on it, ventilation can be provided based on the colour of the traffic light. A green LED is clean air, with orange the CO2 content starts to rise and with red the CO2 content is high. Windows or doors can be opened based on an orange or red LED. Of course, this can also be automated with the CO2 sensor from S+S Regeltechnik with built-in changeover contact or with an active output (0-10V/4…20mA), with which air valves can be opened or closed and provide ventilation.

Many schools already have this or a similar installation, and the government has had a program for this for years: Frisse scholen (Fresh Schools).
