Murrelektronik is expanding its IO-Link portfolio with the MVK Pro and IMPACT67 Pro fieldbus modules. These rugged modules with IP67 protection rating offer on-board diagnostics and 4A per port output current. They are available in all common protocols and can also be used independently of the fieldbus.
A plug & play installation with IO-Link
IO-Link stands for “plug-and-play” installation in automation technology. Against a backdrop of increasingly complex production processes and factories, in which more and more data is collected and networked, IO-Link creates maximum transparency from the sensor-actuator level all the way to the cloud. Murrelektronik has expanded its IO-Link portfolio with the IP67 rated MVK Pro and IMPACT67 Pro fieldbus modules. The new modules have eight multifunctional class A/B master ports, two L-coded M12 ports for power up to 16A, and are available for PROFINET, Ethernet/IP and EtherCAT. Fieldbus-independent operation is possible via OPC UA, MQTT, JSON REST API – thanks to the integrated Standardized Master Interface (SMI).
Innovation in the field of Industry 4.0
The integrated “Standardized Master Interface (SMI)” and the OPC UA, JSON over REST API and MQTT protocols make it possible to use data and parameters across manufacturers and systems, regardless of the fieldbus protocol used. In this form it is so far unique in the industry.
The integrated measurement of energy data at the port/module enables process optimization and preventive diagnostics. Anomalies can be detected and addressed at an early stage without additional hardware.
Ready forr IIOT
In addition to pure process data (I/Os), the new MVK Pro and IMPACT67 Pro modules also provide additional diagnostic data (voltage, current and temperature) for each port and for the entire module. This enables operators to detect anomalies and optimize their processes using data analysis. Thanks to the IIOT protocols, this is standardized and no controller is required.
The most comprehensive port ever – IO-Link class A/B master port
The integrated A/B ports are true multi-talents: The function can be configured on any pin – IO-Link, DI, DO, DIO or a combination. Automatic switching of the supply voltage means that the correct supply voltage, actuator supply for DOs and sensor supply for DIs, is always used. Devices with a higher energy requirement are also powered directly by the module. Thanks to the 4A rating on each port, such devices do not require an external power source. The L-coded M12 ports allow daisy-chaining and supply up to 2 x 16 A of current, simplifying installation and reducing the number of cables. A plastic and metal housing and IP67 protection rating make these robust master modules.
The benefits for the customer
Overall, these devices reduce costs and increase productivity while offering new options for service and maintenance. Installation and commissioning time is reduced because these modules can replace complexly wired, space-consuming control cabinets.
Everything for an IO-Link installation
The MVK Pro and IMPACT67 Pro fieldbus modules further complement Murrelektronik's wide IO-Link range. This consists of masters, hubs, converters, devices and connection technology. As a system supplier, Murrelektronik offers everything needed to connect the controller to the sensor/actuator level via IO-Link. Everything is designed to work together, optimized for the application.
When products from different manufacturers encounter each other in automation, communication often becomes a challenge. This is where these IO-Link masters feel at home, they connect everything together and ensure transparency from the sensor to the cloud.
The highlights:
- 8 × multifunctional IO-Link class A/B master ports with true DIO functionality: each port can be used as an input, output for IO-Link, digital or analog* signals
- Intelligent switching of the supply voltage on pin 2 and pin 4 – actuator supply for DOs and sensor supply for DIs
- Up to 4A per port (up to 2A each at pins 2 and 4)
- Controller independent access using OPC UA, MQTT or JSON REST API
- Integrated sensors for real-time power and data monitoring: current, voltage, temperature and min/max values, etc.
- PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT
- Made for harsh industrial environments
