VNX+ (VITA 90) is the latest VITA standard for embedded high-performance computing in applications where Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) are strictly limited. The architecture is a compact derivative of OpenVPX and aligns with the principles of SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture). This allows VNX+ to combine high performance with standardized interoperability and long-term availability.
With a mechanical form factor that's 70% smaller than a 3U OpenVPX module, VNX+ enables the use of modern CPUs, GPUs, and FPGAs in compact, mobile, and ruggedized systems without compromising bandwidth, signal integrity, or scalability. The standard supports modern serial interconnects and is suitable for data-intensive sensor and processing applications.
ELMA already supports VNX+ with several development platforms. This system hardware enables engineers to test custom-developed boards, develop and validate software, and integrate both custom and purchased modules from various vendors. This accelerates development processes and reduces technical risks during the transition to VNX+ and SOSA-compliant systems.
