Production and logistics processes require increasingly intensive registration for tracking, tracing and control purposes.

Traditional – pistol grip – hand scanners are common for these types of processes. Using such a scanner means that the employee does not have his “scan hand” available for other purposes during scanning, which hampers productivity. The resulting non-productive time loss amounts to an average of 4 seconds per scan action. Where 4 seconds per scan action does not seem like much, this translates into a productivity loss of 24 minutes per day (single shift) and 2 hours per week at a relatively low scan frequency of one scan per minute.

The German manufacturer Proglove has reinvented barcode scanning by integrating a barcode scanner into a (work) glove. The advantage of this method is that the user no longer loses time by picking up, scanning and then putting away a barcode scanner. In practice, it turns out that the scanning glove pays for itself within six months for intensive scanning processes.

Features of scanning glove:

– Suitable for 1D and 2D encodings
– Scanning distance standard range and mid-range
– Weight only 35 grams
– RF communication via its own base station (USB or RS232) and via Bluetooth directly to an external device
– Gloves in different designs and sizes.
