Portable leak detector and leak meter for SF6

Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) is a man-made gas that is widely used as an insulating and circuit-breaking medium in high- and medium-voltage electrical equipment. Because it is an extremely potent greenhouse gas (23,900 times more potent than CO₂) strict regulations apply, in which leak detection plays a major role. 

The Ion Science SF6 Leakcheck P1 XTL offers a handy, efficient and reliable solution for the detection and measurement of SF6. The instrument consists of a sturdy waterproof trolley case, containing a compact wireless handset and a charging station for the handset. After a smart sensor has been placed on the handset, the device is immediately ready for use, without warm-up time. 

Leak detection is indicated by an acoustic and vibration signal, and by projecting red LED light onto the object. As long as no leak is detected, green LED light is projected. The device then makes an accurate measurement of the leak quantity, which is displayed in ml/second, gram/year or ppm with a minimum detection level of 1 x 10-8 ml/sec (HIGHsense model) with a response time of less than half a second. In addition to SF6, C4-FN is also used as an insulating and current-interrupting medium. The Ion Science SF6 Leakcheck P1 XTL is also suitable for detecting gas mixtures of which this gas is a part.
