The FHI Economic Barometer provides a quarterly update on the economic outlook within various sectors. This barometer, based on various indicators such as turnover growth, order portfolio, opportunities and threats, provides insight into current market trends and future expectations. In this summary we provide the findings for Q3 2024, which provide insight into the performance of the various sectors and their expectations for the future.

Total Order Position:
The total order position showed a mixed trend in Q3 2024. In general, a negative trend can be seen compared to the previous quarter. Within the Industrial Electronics and Industrial Automation markets, more than half of the respondents indicate that the total order position has deteriorated in the past quarter compared to the same quarter last year. The Laboratory Technology sector has shown slightly more positive results in comparison to the aforementioned sectors in general.
Turnover:
The turnover figures show a mixed picture again. While most companies in Industrial Automation report a slight increase in turnover, the turnover in Industrial Electronics continues to decrease slightly compared to the previous quarter. Companies in Laboratory Technology also see a slight decrease in turnover.
Opportunities for 2024:
The outlook for the coming period is still influenced by the shift towards sustainability. The energy transition is seen by many companies as a major source of opportunities. This emphasises the continued need for innovation and sector-wide collaboration.
