ERS Eco, a battery-free sensor line powered by Epishine's indoor solar cells.
ELSYS, supplier of LoRaWAN sensors, launches their first battery free products using Epishine's indoor light capture solution. This environmentally friendly sensor line is launched with two sensor types called ERS Eco and ERS Eco CO2. They are completely powered by Epishine's indoor solar cells that are made from biodegradable materials.
“We are incredibly excited to launch a new product line powered by indoor lighting and made from more sustainable materials. Combining a solar cell with new technology and sustainable materials is fully in line with how we want our product development to be at ELSYS. We proudly present a new product that simplifies installation and maintenance Reduces CO2 footprint.” says Peter Björk, CEO at ELSYS.
With the ERS ECO series, customers have complete control over their air quality and indoor climate. This in itself saves money and reduces the carbon footprint, which is also reduced by battery-free operation.
ELSYS' vision to create an environmentally friendly sensor required battery-free operation and a more sustainable housing design. The solution was a collaboration between ELSYS and Epishine, resulting in a sensor powered exclusively by indoor solar cells and a housing made of biodegradable materials.
”ELSYS has taken sustainability to a new level within IoT and sensors for building automation with the new ERS Eco sensor line. We are proud to be their partner and supply our light energy capture modules. Epishine's Organic Solar Energy
cells are perfectly optimized for the ERS Eco sensors with their market-leading performance in building lighting conditions.” says Jonas Palmér, Sales and Business Development at Epishine.
Sensors powered by Epishine's indoor light capture modules not only operate continuously when ambient light is available, but also operate continuously until seven days in the dark. This results in a solution with very little or no maintenance and without ever having to replace the batteries.
“This combination of energy harvesting from indoor lighting, battery-free operation and a biodegradable housing is unique for the IoT industry. I believe that at ELSYS, with continued support from Epicine, we have developed a breakthrough product.” says David Skånehult, Hardware Engineer at ELSYS.
