Energy in Industry event: insight into the transformation of Dutch industry
These are ambitious and hard targets: by 2050, Dutch industry must not only use circular business processes, but CO2 emissions must have fallen to zero. During the new Energy in Industry event, organized by the Industrial Automation branch of FHI, the focus will be on technological solutions to actually achieve these plans, now and in the coming decades.
The transformation towards a circular industry without greenhouse gas emissions has many options in a complex system. This means that energy-reducing measures can be implemented. Consider the capture or storage of energy, or CO2 capture in empty gas fields. This methodology is particularly useful for application in existing processes used by industrial major consumers. Partly due to high energy prices, certain industries have already accelerated the switch to energy saving, but this will have to be done quickly.
One of the most important steps in greening the industry is the use of alternative, green energy carriers. Emissions can be reduced by, for example, using wind and solar energy to produce green hydrogen. Ammonia also plays a role as an interesting energy carrier.
Energy saving is another important step to take. Moreover, reducing energy consumption in the production process can often be achieved relatively easily and at reasonable costs. A lot of attention will also be paid to this step during the Energy in Industry event. Consider, for example, energy saving components and energy monitoring software.
All these interventions require enormous investments in the Dutch industrial landscape. In addition to a leading and steering role from the government, the business community must work closely together to actually achieve all plans.
Bringing companies active in the industry along to this transformation requires more than just turning to the government for help. Dutch companies active in Industrial Automation can help you. Analyzes can be made by providing insight into processes and energy use. These in turn serve as a basis for taking next steps.
During the Energy event, FHI members will help you gain insight into current solutions, learn from the experiences of other entrepreneurs and identify future options.
