ESD requirements for hand soldering systems
FHI, Federation of Technology Industries – October 10, 2019
You probably know which materials are allowed in an EPA (ESD protected area). But what are the rules for hand soldering equipment? The IPC standard J-STD-001 describes the requirements that you must meet when soldering electronic or electrical equipment. In the lecture by Ramon Essers from ETECH (on behalf of Romex) goes into more detail about the specific ESD requirements that soldering equipment must meet.
Aspects discussed in the lecture include ways to connect hand soldering equipment, the advantages and disadvantages of the connections and a test of these connections against the IPC standard.
