GF receives German Innovation Award for new IR-225 M infrared welding machine
EPE – The Swiss specialist in plastic pipe systems, Georg Fischer (GF), was awarded the German Innovation Award in Berlin on May 13, 2025. The award was presented for the new IR-225 M infrared welding machine in the "Excellence in Machines & Engineering" category. This prestigious prize recognizes products and technologies that make life more sustainable and efficient through innovation.
Infrared welding machines use non-contact infrared radiation to connect plastic pipes. Unique to this joining technique is the consistent weld quality and minimal risk of contamination. This is especially important for market segments with high purity requirements, such as the semiconductor industry or water treatment.
About the IR-225 M
The IR-225 M is the successor to the successful IR-225 Plus and welds contactless plastics such as PVDF, ECTFE, PP-H, PP-n, PE100, and PVC-U. The machine is designed for pipes with diameters from d63 mm to d225 mm and connects them with up to 60%, resulting in shorter cooling times compared to the IR-225 Plus.
In addition, the IR-225 M is more compact, lighter, and equipped with a touchscreen with comprehensive instructions in 20 available languages. This minimizes the risk of human welding errors and significantly increases reproducibility.
First presentation at the Pumps & Valves trade fair in Rotterdam
The IR-225 M infrared welding machine will be presented for the first time in the Netherlands by GF at the Pumps & Valves trade fair in Rotterdam Ahoy, stand H10, on 1 & 2 October 2025.
