Gpi helps SOUPY with an automated stainless steel cooking kettle process line

“As a process equipment supplier, Gpi De Gouwe knows what it is talking about and was able to convert our wishes into a user-friendly, customized automated soup process line”

What started with an idea in 2019 became a fact a year and a half later. This fall, the first SOUPY soups rolled off the production line, ready to find their way to fresh soup lovers. With the help of Gpi De Gouwe, an automated stainless steel cooking kettle process line was created that not only produces tasty soups, but also provides for the ease of use of the cooking kettles, which was one of the priorities for SOUPY.

“Already looking for industrial stainless steel cooking kettles, we ended up at Gpi De Gouwe,” says Jan Schipper, owner of SOUPY. “We had a good feeling from our first exploratory introductory meeting. As a process equipment supplier, Gpi knows what it is talking about and was able to convert our wishes into a user-friendly, customized automated soup process line.” The supplied process equipment setup consists of four stainless steel cooking kettles, two of which are tilting stock tanks and two soup kettles with a top-driven gate agitator and static dispersion mixer. All boilers can be cleaned separately using CIP (cleaning in place). In addition, not only were the pipework, steam lines, stairs, railings and platforms completely taken care of by Gpi, but also the control/automation and the installation of the process line.

“The pleasant contact, the craftsmanship and the solution orientation are points that we experienced as very positive during our collaboration. Gpi is a company of 'one man one man, one word one word',” says the owner of SOUPY.

Sustainably produced soup with a twist
Soup is a frequently eaten product. As a meal, but soup is also very suitable as a snack or with lunch. Nowadays, truly freshly made soup is hardly found on store shelves. SOUPY changes this. “What makes our soup so unique compared to the other soups on offer is that the broth is made from fresh ingredients overnight. With this unique slow-cooked process, the vegetables retain their fiber, minerals, vitamins and taste. The result is a very tasty, natural broth and you can taste it!” says Jan Visser, head of production, enthusiastically. “Both is the basis for a good soup. In addition, we do not add E numbers, unnecessary salt or other additives to our soups. The result is a really fresh soup with a pure taste. Furthermore, we only use fresh vegetables. For example, almost half of our tomato soup consists of fresh quality tomatoes. It is therefore logical that our soups contain up to 75% of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of vegetables (250 grams).”

Moreover, making sustainable choices is an important aspect during the production process. The soup production is based on exclusively green energy and the Soupies are packaged in bio-based plastic with the I'm Green quality mark, which means that the packaging is highly recyclable. Some 50% of the packaging is made from sugar cane, making the raw materials climate positive. “Sustainability plays a major role in the development and production of our soup. For example, we believe it is important to obtain the necessary ingredients as much as possible from the environment in order to keep the number of 'Food Miles' low, to prevent unnecessary emissions and energy consumption and to support local cultivation,” says Jan Schipper.
