Hitma introduces the BESafe, a state-of-the-art dual-channel gas detector from Crowcon, specifically designed for battery energy storage systems (BESS). This detector offers fast response, easy remote maintenance, and flexible installation. Ideal for protecting compact, high-risk areas.

Safety challenges

The energy transition is driving the rapid growth of lithium-ion battery storage systems in data centers, UPS systems, energy containers, and electrical distribution boards, among other applications. These systems pose new safety challenges. During charging, discharging, or in the event of thermal runaway, hazardous gases such as hydrogen (H₂), carbon monoxide (CO), and methane (CH₄) can be released, often undetected. Early detection is essential to prevent fire, system damage, and personal injury.

Targeted and fast gas detection

Crowcon's new BESafe gas detector is specifically designed to mitigate these risks. Its dual-channel configuration allows it to monitor two gases simultaneously and offers flexible sensor placement up to 15 meters from the main unit. This makes the system particularly suitable for confined or difficult-to-access battery rooms.

Easy to maintain and robust
The BESafe uses smart, pre-calibrated sensors that are easy to replace and require no manual calibration during their lifetime. This reduces maintenance costs and prevents unnecessary downtime. The compact IP65 housing provides reliable protection, even in harsh industrial environments, and is easily integrated into existing installations.

For critical energy environments

The BESafe is a valuable solution for:

  • Project managers and engineers of energy storage systems
  • HSE managers and facility managers in the energy, data center and utility sectors
  • OEMs and system integrators in battery technology and renewable energy

Most important features

  • Detects hydrogen, carbon monoxide and methane
  • Fast, accurate measurement with early warning
  • Dual sensor capacity for simultaneous monitoring
  • OLED display with real-time readout
  • Audiovisual alarms and multiple communication options (including Modbus RTU, relays)
