Label printers come in different sizes and weights.

They all have very different functionalities and specifications, and there are also different brands. Each brand has its specific strengths. But the user does not buy a label printer purely based on brand. It is much more important to first identify your requirements.

How many labels do you want to print?

Is it a few dozen labels or do you print hundreds to thousands of labels per day?

How wide do you want your labels?

The width of the print head determines the maximum print width - common sizes are 4 inches (up to 104mm wide) and 6 inches (up to 165mm wide).

What information should be included?

This determines the resolution of the print head. The resolution is expressed in dots per inch (dpi), or the number of dots that the printer prints per inch. The higher the resolution, the better and sharper the end result. Options are 200, 300 and 600 dpi.

In which environment will the printer be installed?

It makes quite a difference whether a printer is placed in an office or a dusty industrial environment. You may prefer to print the label in a freezer room. Special housings (dust-tight, sound-insulating and heated) are also available for different environments.
