Sustainable employability of personnel, prevention of absenteeism and talent management: these are important themes for HRM professionals. These subjects were discussed extensively during the FHI HRM-Currentities Seminar 2018.

The average absenteeism of employees in SMEs (up to 200 employees) rose slightly again in the first half of 2018, ArboNed reports. Absenteeism therefore remains an important point of attention for HRM managers. During the seminar, Sandra Engelbertink and Sophie Peeters of VIT addressed the question of how sustainable employability can be improved. In addition, Truus van Amerongen (ArboNed) spoke in a session on the theme 'from absenteeism to employability'.

Regulations

New regulations were also discussed in the HRM Current Affairs Seminar. For example, Rob Slagmolen of VNO-NCW/MKB-Nederland gave an overview of all proposals and plans that were presented during Budget Day. Tjeerd Hoekstra and Amajanti van de Beek (CMS) discussed the consequences of the Balanced Labor Market Act.

Irma van der Schoot and Nadine van der Hart of iScreen indicated in the other sessions that the role of the manager is crucial for successful talent management, while Ron Eman of ISA Training & Coaching concluded the fruitful HRM event. He spoke about essential skills to successfully and pragmatically fulfill the work as an HR professional.
