Of Han® F+B HARTING has a series connectors specially designed for the requirements of the food industry. Slippery surfaces make it harder for bacteria to build up. The covers, housings and seals are robust and protect the internal contacts against hose water and aggressive cleaning agents.
Hygiene and safety are particularly important in the food processing industry. Machines and equipment should be designed to be easy to clean; dirt bags should be avoided. The right connectors help the equipment meet these requirements. The connections, surfaces, threads and seals of the special Han® F+Bconnectors are therefore designed in such a way that dirt particles cannot adhere to them and it is therefore more difficult for bacteria to accumulate.
Han® F+B plastic covers and housings are water-repellent and suitable for cleaning agents certified by Ecolab and with FDA 21 approvals. The water jet from high-pressure cleaners cannot penetrate the hoods/housings when closed.
Easy operation

Of Han® F+B users can minimize disruptions to the machine. For example, you do not have to open cable glands in the control cabinet to disconnect field equipment. Complicated removal and reinstallation of fixed wiring is not required. Connectors make equipment installation faster and reduce tool changes and service intervals.
Constantly in the product and spray area
The product zone is the zone that comes into direct contact with food and places the highest demands on machines and components. This zone is often kept small to limit the cleaning effort. Because electromechanical interfaces would interrupt the smooth surfaces, they are mounted outside this zone where possible.
Food in the spray zone may come into contact with surrounding components. Processing material that has come into contact must not be re-entered into the product flow. Despite all efforts, residues can remain on the components, causing bacteria to accumulate. Therefore, this area must be cleaned with chemicals under high pressure after processing the batches. Connectors are practical here, but must be able to withstand the pressure of the cleaner. The design of the Han® F+B hoods and housings is adapted to the requirements of this zone

Application: Packaging machines for the spray zone
The company Packaging Automation, manufacturer of tray sealers in Knutsford, Great Britain, has been using this connector since a joint development phase. “Thanks to Han® F+B we no longer have any problems connecting machine elements,” reports Steve Woodhead, Design Engineer at PA. “Thanks to the connector, we have achieved more standardization in the lower part of the machines. We can now replace inserts, such as exhaust systems, and make changes without having to redesign the entire metal structure of the tray sealer.”
