Initial inspection, our experience for the safety of your employees

Production systems and machines are becoming increasingly complex due to short cycle times and higher demands on employees. It is therefore important that operators in particular can rely on a safe machine.

Ensuring the safety of a machine or system is not only a task for the machine manufacturer: end users of machines and systems are obliged to provide safe work equipment. The experts at SICK are happy to support end users of machines with their knowledge and experience.

During the initial inspection our experts check whether the safety devices of your machine or installation are correctly mounted, whether the devices are suitable for the safety application and whether they work safely. Everything is checked and documented before you put the machine into operation.

In order to guarantee a high and consistent quality of inspection, all SICK experts are certified. Their knowledge and skills are regularly updated, checked and inspected.

Scope of service: initial inspection by SICK

• Check that all required documents (risk assessment, installation manual, operating instructions and, if within the EU, a CE declaration of conformity or incorporation declaration) are present
• Determination whether the correct technical security systems have been selected in accordance with the normative requirements
• Determining whether the security systems have been installed correctly according to specification
• Check by trained, experienced experts that the installation and operation of the protection system meet the requirements and current use of the machine
• Check whether the type and category of the security system including signalling is correctly integrated into the safety-relevant part of the controller
• Exclusion of all possibilities recognizable in the inspection scope to circumvent the security system by incorrect application
• Adjusting the optical security systems and removing contamination (if necessary)
• Documentation and advice on how to remedy any defects within the scope of the inspection
• Preparation and discussion of the inspection report as part of the machine documentation
• Issuing the quality label in case of a positive inspection result
