- The RIVM reports 43,903 registered corona infections in the past week, 60 percent more than the week before. The infection number R was 1.27 on September 24, writes the NOSThe cabinet will announce new measures this evening.
- A draft version of a 'roadmap for corona measures' from the cabinet is came into the hands of the Volkskrant. With various risk levels and possible measures, the government wants to counter the second wave. Based on the latest RIVM figures, the Netherlands ends up in the 'very serious' category, the highest level on the provisional roadmap.
- Business organizations VNO-NCW and MKB Nederland state that the hospitality industry can remain open because they have their affairs in order. The sector would be hit disproportionately hard, so they say on BNR.
- Janssen Vaccines has had to temporarily halt the development of a coronavirus vaccine after a test subject unexpectedly became ill during the phase 3 trial. The pharmaceutical company, part of Johnson & Johnson, will investigate the cause, NOS reports.
