- The number of confirmed corona infections fell from 18,000 to 16,500 on a weekly basis, or by 8 percent. According to the RIVM, the decline is leveling off.
- The Dutch economy is according to CBS grew by 3.1 percent in the second quarter compared to the first three months of this year. The economy still shrank in the first quarter, but the economy is still 0.4 percent smaller than before the pandemic.
- The eurozone also showed growth in the second quarter. According to Eurostat the total growth amounted to 1.9 percent. The German economy grew by 1.5 percent, the Belgian by 1.4 percent.
- British businesses are struggling to recruit new staff to fill the one million vacancies that are unfilled in the UK, the Office for National Statistics says further that wages will rise sharply as a result, to 8.8 percent compared to last year's level.
- The Health Council will issue advice on an additional jab for fully vaccinated people no later than mid-September. The OMT will also issue advice on the so-called 'booster shots', so NOS reports.
