EMC shielding at component level is usually done with shielding cans. These are available in a wide variety as standard components.
But what if there is no suitable solution? A customer-specific design can then offer a solution. The big disadvantage of this, however, is the tooling costs that cannot be amortized for small quantities.
Tecan can produce EMC shielding with precision etching, without the need for specific hard tooling. Even a high complexity does not affect the initial costs.
Etching is a subtractive process, based on photolithography and acid etching, which is ideal for the production of precision metal parts in both prototypes and high volumes.
A range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals are possible to cover the various frequencies. When all profiling is completed, plating can also cover the machined edges of the profile and protect it completely. The result is a burr- and stress-free product.
