LAN option provides communications interface for rack-mounted power supplies

TDK Corporation introduces two LAN modules for the TDK-Lambda HFE1600 and HFE2500 series of rack mount, hot swappable power supplies. The LAN (Local Area Network) option allows users to remotely program and monitor the status of the power supply. This enhancement is ideal for use in general industrial, communications and T&M equipment.
The LAN modules can be plugged directly into a standard HFE rack and use the HFE/S I2C / PMBus™ function. The HFE1600-LAN has the same dimensions (85 x 41 x 300 mm) as the HFE1600 power supplies and can be plugged into any open position in the rack. In turn, the HFE2500-LAN has the same dimensions (107 x 41 x 325 mm) as the HFE2500 power supplies. The modules can be attached or removed under AC voltage without adversely affecting the operation of the HFE power supply. Communication is possible with one or more power supplies in a rack or with power supplies in multiple racks.
A GUI (Graphical User Interface) available via a built-in web server allows the power supply to be programmed and its status to be read. To prevent unauthorized access, the user can enable password protection and other security features. Supported protocols include VISA drivers, Telnet, TCP and UDP sockets, VXI-11 Discovery and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol).
The front panel of the HFE-LAN has an Ethernet RJ-45 connector, a button to reset the LAN to default settings and status LEDs. The LEDs can be remotely illuminated to identify the LAN location. The network speed can be set manually, or by automatically selecting the fastest of the 10Base-T or 100Base-T networks. Configuration of the IP address can also be done manually, or automatically by the module.
The modules are safety certified according to IEC/EN/UL 60950-1 and are CE marked for the Low Voltage and ROHS2 Directives. The working temperature is between -10 °C and +70 °C. They meet the IEC 61000-4-2 standard for immunity.
