Meet Xandra Duiveman: project manager Building Automation
As project manager, Xandra Duiveman is the face of the Building Automation industry. She is the first point of contact for members and acts as the driving force behind member meetings and events. We would like to introduce you to Xandra.

Xandra has been working at FHI for a year. In her role as project manager, she maintains contact with the board and members and organizes events and meetings for the industry. It is precisely the contact with the members that contributes to her job satisfaction: “I really enjoy the contact with members and external parties. As a trade association, we have a strong outward focus. I am often on the road and there is constant variety and challenge.”
The passionate project manager has a background in event management and tourism, and has also worked in process optimization. “I am Green Belt certified in Lean. I applied this methodology to improving websites and optimizing processes at my previous employer.” This experience also comes in handy in her new role. “We have made improvements to the website in the past year and are working on optimizing processes. I always keep our members in mind.”
Digital Building of the Future
A permanent part of the activities organized by the Building Automation sector is the annual conference 'Digital Building of the Future.' This year the conference will be given a new look with a strong substantive program and a shorter day. Xandra explains: “Previously the conference was a full working day, but we received feedback that visitors thought this was too long. We also noticed that there is a need for a good substantive program. Visitors come to such a day with a lot of questions, and we want to answer them.”
Apart from networking opportunities, the conference also offers participating companies the opportunity to gain knowledge. Xandra emphasizes: “Exhibitors get the opportunity to meet potential customers. I hope they learn from these interactions and ask lots of questions. What is really going on with our customers? Am I on the right track with my product?”
Technological development
In addition to the conference, there are more great activities on the program in the coming period. There is one like that meeting about digiGO in October and a visit to the Green Village of TU Delft in January. The purpose of these visits is to inspire members and keep them informed at the same time. After all, technology is developing at a breakneck pace. “I hope that we all remain open to change and move with the times. Artificial Intelligence will play an important role in this and I look forward to seeing more of it. Rapid technological developments also emphasize the importance of cybersecurity. We certainly should not forget this.”
