In the past period, contact has been made with NEVI, the Dutch Association of Purchasing Management, on the theme of sustainability. Last month, they and NEN, the Dutch standards organisation, published the international guideline ISO 20400 for Socially Responsible Purchasing (SRP). ISO 20400 helps companies and governments to reduce their footprint and contribute to better wages and working conditions in international trade and production chains. In total, Dutch companies and governments purchase approximately 600 billion annually. As a result, purchasing has an enormous social and economic impact. The guideline has been approved by 165 countries. The guideline was developed after years of international consultation. As a leader in the field of sustainable purchasing, the Netherlands played a key role in this process. In addition to NEVI and NEN, more than twenty public and private organisations in our country were involved in the approval process. The Dutch purchasing method is anchored in the guideline. This method is known as the 'NEVI Dutch Wheel'.
