Metafas Group acquires Viscon Graphic Products

Asten, May 11, 2023 – The Metafas Group from Asten, producer of high-quality front foils, user interfaces and printed electronics, has acquired fellow industry player Viscon Graphic Products from Hegelsom as of April 1. The acquisition makes Metafas one of the market leaders in the Netherlands in the field of printed membrane switches, foils, stickers and type plates for industry.  

“Metafas and Viscon make the same type of products, but each have their own expertise and customer base,” says Luc van Neer, owner of Metafas. “By merging the two companies, we are creating a unique player with a great deal of knowledge and experience. During this process, the expertise from our Advisory Board, especially from Steven Romme and Govert Eijsvoogel, has proven to be of great value. For our customers, the takeover means an expansion of our range for their application. At the same time, we have strengthened the position of Metafas by bringing in the knowledge and experience from Viscon, and we can make an efficiency leap.”

He continues: “We are in a market where craftsmanship is the key to success, and this craftsmanship is increasingly difficult to find. In addition, we have to invest in innovations and productivity, and we are also confronted with higher costs for labor, energy and materials. By joining forces, we create economies of scale in all three areas.”

Martien Meulendijks, owner of Viscon, adds: “Initially, we entered into discussions with Metafas to see if we could act as a back-up for temporary production bottlenecks. But as the conversation progressed, it turned out that we had a lot in common. Although Metafas has more experience with printed electronics and R&D, there was little overlap in the customer base. Metafas then came up with the proposal to deepen the collaboration and even merge the two companies. Although I was initially a bit hesitant, Luc van Neer’s enthusiasm convinced me.”

Early May, the machines and employees of Viscon Graphic Products will move from Hegelsom to Asten and production will continue from there. Martien Meulendijk will become part of the management team of the Metafas Group.
