The MGB2 Classic is the best choice for simple applications where you want to connect the protection directly to the control system inputs and outputs. This is done via a cable with an M23 connector or a cable gland on the internal connectors, without the need for a separate bus module.

- Serial connections
- Standalone applications
- Applications where 3 buttons/switches are sufficient
The MGB2 Modular offers greater flexibility and expansion options through the use of a bus module. This makes it easy to connect multiple MGB2 units to a single fieldbus.

- Complex production lines that have a safe bus
- Installations with multiple security points
- Installations with more functionality
- Situations where expansions are expected
- Installations that need to be tested, dismantled and rebuilt quickly
