Not only the expert jury of the Hannover Messe is convinced of the innovation potential. The readers of Maschinen Markt (Vogel Communications Group) also see the Han-Modular Domino modules from Harting as a game changer. These modular industrial connectors were awarded a 'Best of Industry Award'. They emerged as winners in the 'Electrical Equipment' category.
To meet the challenges of energy and digitalization in the future, activation technology is needed. Connectors enable safe and trouble-free transmission of energy, data and signals. But the connector technology itself must also follow the trends in the market and ensure added value and greater sustainability. Harting's answer to this is the Han-Modular Domino module. A series that primarily meets the industrial requirements for saving space and weight. Users can save up to 50% in installation space, for example by integrating different transmission types in one module. This contributes to the conservation of raw materials. Because less energy and material is required for smaller components, which also enables optimization in terms of logistics. In addition, the modular design allows the individual modules to be reused.
On the right track
All these assets have not gone unnoticed by the readers of Maschinen Markt. Since 2016, the trade magazine has been awarding the best in the industry every year. The nomination phase is followed by five months of online voting. Around 20,000 readers voted for their favourites. In the 'Electrical Equipment' category, the Harting Technology Group stood on the highest podium with its Han-Modular Domino modules. Norbert Gemmeke: Managing Director of the Global Business Unit Electric was particularly pleased with the recognition. "We are very proud of this award and would like to thank the readers who voted for us. This award shows that we are on the right track with our customers and partners with the advantages of the Domino modules. Saving installation space and weight, but also the associated lower costs and the conservation of raw materials are important trend themes that concern us all today."
Well-stocked trophy cabinet
Incidentally, it was not the first time that the Han-Modular Domino modules won awards. The idea behind this next phase in the development of industrial connectivity made a name for itself shortly after its world debut in the spring of 2022 and convinced the jury of the HERMES Award. These modules based on the domino principle were recognized by them as one of the top three innovations of the year. In addition, the Han-Modular Domino modules were awarded 'Cable and Connector Product of the Year' at the first 'Instrumentation Excellence Awards' in London in October. A well-filled trophy cabinet.
Cubes support customization
Like dominoes that have two separate squares, a Domino module is made of two building blocks or 'cubes'. The Han-Modular connection surface is divided into two parts. The result is an almost square surface in which even larger contacts can be accommodated. The cubes support the configuration of customized connectors, which are precisely adapted to the requirements of the design. Power, signals and data or compressed air as well as male and female contacts can be combined in one module. In total, the number of required interfaces per unit has been reduced. The connection technology becomes smaller and lighter, so that more modules and types of modules fit into one connector than before.
