With the new one MPS-G SICK introduces a magnetic position sensor for pneumatics in general and robot grippers in particular. In addition to accurate, continuous feedback on the movement of the pneumatic drive, this unique sensor also provides a flow of data that puts various diagnostic functions within reach at once. This way you can intervene quickly and improve production and maintenance processes.
The smart MPS-G provides so much information that you can fulfill numerous diagnostic requirements without having to install an additional sensor. In addition to the ejection time, retraction time and speed of the actuator, the MPS-G also provides data on the number of cycles, the total distance traveled by the actuator, the stroke length, the piston speed, the cycle time and all information for a vibration analysis (x/y/ z, RMS, kurtosis, pulse factor).
Based on all the data, you can see, for example, when the air pressure is too low or when there is a leak. A stroke that is too long indicates that the shock absorption is no longer sufficient. And too quick a stroke could indicate that someone has changed the settings.
The position sensor can be easily and flexibly adjusted using the self-learning converter. The MPS-G has three digital switching points. With IO-Link there are sixteen.
