How does a gearbox end up in an opera performance?
The Dutch National Opera & Ballet opted for the whisper-quiet gearboxes from the series ATB and AE by Apex Dynamics for the decor of two productions. In both 'Porgy and Bess' and 'The Boy Who Grew Up Too Fast' the decor movements are controlled by our gearboxes. The most important feature is of course a whisper-quiet operation, secondly the reliability of the gearboxes.

Part of the decor is a so-called shrinking machine, which can make people bigger and smaller. The 'machine' consists of, among other things, a few gimbal-rotating squares. For the manual drive of this, the Dutch National Opera & Ballet has chosen the ATB series bevel gear box from Apex Dynamics.
