Karlsruhe, Germany – June 30, 2025: In a recent white paper, global market research firm ABI Research positions the open omlox standard as an essential building block for seamless positioning solutions in industrial environments. An initiative of PI (PROFIBUS & PROFINET International), omlox sets new standards for interoperability and openness in positioning.

The standard combines a wide range of technologies such as UWB, BLE, RFID, 5G, and GNSS under a single, interoperable umbrella. This enables true multi-vendor implementations and seamless positioning – within buildings, between buildings, and for goods in transit. Particularly noteworthy is the interoperable UWB system, which creates a common positioning zone across multiple manufacturers for accurate real-time positioning in dynamic environments.

Companies benefit from increased efficiency, better scalability, and lower costs because omlox eliminates technology fragmentation, vendor lock-in, and integration barriers. Numerous practical examples, a growing partner network, and a clear roadmap demonstrate that omlox plays a central role in building an open, interoperable RTLS (Real-Time Location System) ecosystem. Industry leaders such as TRUMPF, MANN+HUMMEL, and Liebherr already rely on omlox to optimize processes, utilize resources more efficiently, and address the shortage of qualified personnel with intelligent automation. With more than 60 global partners, omlox is driving the adoption of Industry 4.0 applications such as asset tracking, mobile robotics, and digital twins worldwide.
