Turnover in industry increases in the fourth quarter

Producers in the industry achieved a turnover growth of 6.7 percent in the fourth quarter of last year. In almost all sectors, producers managed to achieve more turnover than a year ago. Foreign turnover growth was higher than domestic. This also happened in the second and third quarters of 2017, reports CBS. The industrial turnover that Dutch producers achieved abroad was 9.0 percent higher. In the Netherlands, turnover increased by 2.6 percent. Selling prices rose by almost 4 percent.

Transport equipment industry

Figures from Statistics Netherlands show that the transport equipment industry shows the strongest turnover growth at 14 percent. Car manufacturers in particular did well. The electrical/machine industry sector recorded a turnover growth of 8.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2017. Almost all industrial sectors did good business in the fourth quarter. Only the furniture industry saw its turnover shrink by 2.3 percent.
