Turnover in the industry increased by 8.3 percent in the third quarter of this year. This means that turnover has been increasing for eight quarters in a row. Further growth is also expected for 2019.

That reports CBS. In the Netherlands, turnover growth in the third quarter was higher than the growth of foreign turnover: within the Netherlands, growth was 13.2 percent, compared to 5.7 percent abroad. Selling prices increased by 5.1 percent.

The difference was highest at 18.2 percent in the petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical and rubber and plastic products industries. This increase can be attributed to the price development of crude oil. Only in the textile, clothing and leather industry was the figure a modest 2.3 percent.

Producers in the industry are positive about turnover and staff numbers in 2019. A quarter of producers have indicated that they expect turnover increases for 2019.
