The current wishes and needs of society are driving a transformation of the industry. This requires major innovations from various business chains in the use of resources, equipment and instrumentation. Much can be achieved with the existing expertise and other collaboration. Jacco Opmeer of Shell Global Solutions is a board member of the WIB, the user association for instrumentation and automation in the process industry. The speaker challenges the audience of the PPA event to look at challenges for a successful transition in a new way.

For example, current technological changes pose a challenge. It has become more complex to deliver the desired product and the industry is therefore confronted with the current limitations of the working methods in the chains.

Using examples from Process Automation, Jacco Opmeer will indicate which solutions can be used to meet the requirements of the increasingly complex world.

The examples relate to the work of the Open Process Automation™ Forum. This is an industrial collaboration to renew complex Industrial Automation. The speaker will discuss the work of the International Instrument Users' Association WIB. The new view on collaboration in chains is hereby taken up, which creates more flexibility and effectiveness to arrive at the right solutions for society together.

This requires a cooperative approach in all parts of the business chains, which will also transform the working method in the coming years.
