PFAS is a collective name for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. PFAS does not occur naturally in the environment. The Netherlands is working with a number of other countries on a European ban on the use of PFAS. What impact will a possible ban have on business?
The Netherlands is working with a number of other countries on a European ban on the use of PFAS. In January, they submitted a so-called PFAS restriction dossier to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). This proposal was made public on February 7. This will be followed by a public consultation and ultimately an advice to the European Commission. The ban on PFAS should come into effect in 2025.
Together with the VNCI, the trade association for the chemical industry, VNO-NCW and MKB-Nederland organized three online knowledge sessions. These are viewable here, including the presentations.
