Planetary drives for S1 company

A Planetary drive, very compact, suitable for high torques and relatively low speeds.
In the distant past, the planetary drive was known to become too hot, not suitable for continuous/s1 operation and a very high (singing) noise level.
The industry has not stood still and has left this past far behind it. With a nice result as a result.

To apply planetary reduction gears

Applying and selecting a Planetary reduction gearbox is actually just as quick and easy as with a regular gearbox or motor gearbox.
There is often a wide choice of standard output/output shafts and the design is in many cases straight/in-line or angled, sometimes with a flange and sometimes with a foot mounting.
The ratio (delay) can be built up with steps, from 1 step (ratio i= 3.5) to more than 6 steps (ratio i=xx thousand). Fairly simple, as it concerns almost all standard components. Unlike a regular gearbox, a planetary design is fairly modular in construction.

Thermal power and ambient temperature

Also in one planetary reducer there is friction and heat development inside the cabinet. As with a “normal” gear unit, the planetary variant is cooled by means of an oil bath. Due to the compact structure of a planetary drive and the lack of space for cooling, both internally and externally, a planetary drive basically becomes a lot warmer than a comparable bevel gear reducer. This is a point of attention when selecting a planetary gearbox. (more information can be read via Linkedin – Planetary the solution?) . S1 or 24/7 operation is therefore no problem at all, provided you take this into account and have the agreement of the supplier

There is even the option for ATEX approval (explosion-proof environment) or for very high ambient temperatures. Be well informed about this.

Noise level and durability

Since there are more moving parts in a planetary drive, you have a relatively high noise level. By choosing a quality brand with good bearings, good quality synthetic oil (pre-rinsed if possible) and magnetic plugs you can select a very low noise level and a durable drive. The supplier may be able to calculate the desired lifespan for you, so that the solution fits your application perfectly.
