Product confidence at the highest level ever
FHI, Federation of Technology Industries – June 12, 2018
Producer confidence reached its highest level ever in January. This is reported by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). The index that measures the confidence of industrial entrepreneurs went from 8.9 in December to 10.3 in the first month of the year. The previous record of 9.4 dates from January 2008. Producers are currently more positive about the expected activity. The confidence of industrial producers is well above the average of the past twenty years (0.7). The lowest value was reached in February 2009 at minus 23.5. Since October 2014, positive entrepreneurs have predominated. Statistics Netherlands also announces that industry selling prices were 2.8 percent higher in December than a year earlier. The price increase is smaller than a month earlier, when industrial products were 5 percent more expensive. Selling prices are strongly related to the oil price.
